Best industries in Kerrville right now

I'm a college student here and Household incomes average around $59,431 in Kerrville. Poverty rate is 7.5%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What do you all think? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Bought a house here in 2018 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 27, moved here 6 years ago from Houston. I've lived in East and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Nice parks and green spaces
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The housing market situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for couples. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a project manager and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 5 years. Moved from Tampa for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is improving - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Dating scene is rough. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Eastside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The public transit scene is average

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..
