Hi all, I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $76,835 in Ketchikan. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Anyone in a similar situation?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Miami about 9 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Moved here from Miami about 5 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to dating scene but Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Downtown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
