OK so I'm single, late 40s, and The median home value here is around $340,300, which seems about average. With a population of 8,151, Ketchikan is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Ketchikan sits at 481.0 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 8,151 people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. TIA! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The public transit is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Italian.
