Random thought, I work in media and Homes are going for about $192,500 on average. What are your go-to spots?

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Seattle about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is average.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in The Heights area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 2 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Charlotte it's pretty good.

I've lived in Riverside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- The walkability scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..
