Rent vs buy in Kettering -what makes sense?

Hey, Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Kettering sits at 101.9 per 100K. With a population of 57,442, Kettering is a smaller city. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Am I wrong here? Appreciate any input. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
