Best neighborhoods in Kewanee

Anyone else feel this way? Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 12,280 people. Household incomes average around $49,668 in Kewanee. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Close to nature
- Diverse community

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- Limited nightlife
- Lack of diversity
- Homelessness issues downtown
Any help is appreciated. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Tampa about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
