Hi all, I'm originally from Omaha and It's a a small town city with about 12,069 people. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Thoughts? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 2 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely excellent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (The Heights) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cultural scene is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
