Been meaning to ask this. Household incomes average around $78,532 in Key West. The median home value here is around $816,300, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Key West sits at 391.0 per 100K. Rent is about $2,075/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 25,824 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
- Far from major airports
- Chain restaurants dominate
Anyone in a similar situation? The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely challenging and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.
