OK so We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -Kilgore sits at 305.7 per 100K. Household incomes average around $58,141 in Kilgore. It's a a small town city with about 13,444 people. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've lived in Midtown for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- The school system scene is average
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
