Hey, I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $58,141, which feels about average for the area. With a population of 13,444, Kilgore is a small town. Household incomes average around $58,141 in Kilgore. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Any help is appreciated. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Uptown for 11 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited entertainment options. Far from beaches/mountains. And walkability can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.
