Best areas to explore in Killeen?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a college student here and Homes are going for about $196,000 on average. Median household income is $58,339, which feels about average for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 9 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Baltimore it's underrated.

I work in hospitality here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Downtown. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in tech. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
