How are the schools in Killeen?

Alright, Rent is about $1,147/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Any advice would be great. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in North area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 27, moved here 11 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Highland and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The walkability situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for families. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The weather is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely solid and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Old Town) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Eastside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.
