Things that make Killeen unique

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I grew up here but left for a while. Median household income is $58,339, which feels about average for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,147 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Looking forward to hearing from you all. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
