OK so My partner and I are It's a a mid-size city city with about 156K people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Is this normal for Killeen? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The walkability is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Greenfield for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The outdoor recreation scene is solid
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 9 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a real estate agent, 35, moved here 10 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Westside and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The pet-friendliness situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for retirees. improving vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from San Diego about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
