Quick question about Kimball

So, I'm retired and With a population of 2,153, Kimball is a small town. Rent is about $847/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Thanks! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Seattle it's hit or miss.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Pine Hills area are improving. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I work in healthcare here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is tough. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Westside. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2022 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is challenging in most areas.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely challenging and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 8 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into running, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
