Weekend activities in Kincaid?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a 40-year-old teacher and It's a a small town city with about 1,243 people. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Does this match your experience?

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- The job market scene is tough

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much stable but now it's average.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Francisco about 1 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 5 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Pine Hills for 6 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Limited high-paying job options. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
