Not sure if this has been asked before, but It's a a smaller city city with about 33,850 people. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Would love some local perspective. Thanks! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2018 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Old Town area are tough. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely decent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (The Heights) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
