Been meaning to ask this. It's a a smaller city city with about 33,850 people. Median household income is $60,418, which feels about average for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 10 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Eastside for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- The pet-friendliness scene is improving
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is solid in most areas.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been here 15 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Charlotte about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is improving.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Denver it's tough.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Midtown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The weather is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
