What I wish I knew before living in Kings Mountain
I'm a remote worker and It's a a small town city with about 11,472 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Kings Mountain sits at 136.8 per 100K. Median household income is $45,507, which feels on the lower side for the area. You can expect to pay around $879 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I wrong here? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely challenging and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (East) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Italian.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The public transit is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 11 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..
