Would love some local perspective. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The dating scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 7 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The dating scene is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 3 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Old Town for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- The job market scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..
