OK so Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 4.4%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Thoughts? TIA! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'm a lawyer and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The cost of living is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 41, moved here 8 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Sunset and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Good schools in most areas
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The public transit situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for singles. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $60K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
