Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Maple Ridge area are solid. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been here 4 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Used to live on the West side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.
