Is it worth buying in Kingsport?

Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $50,436, which feels on the lower side for the area. You can expect to pay around $843 for rent here. Poverty rate is 16.6%, which is higher than I expected. The median home value here is around $203,000, which is actually reasonable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 9 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.
