Is Kingston a good place to live?

Curious what people think. Rent is about $1,323/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $277,900, which seems about average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What would you do? The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Atlanta about 4 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..
