Starting a business in Kingston?

Been meaning to ask this. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $204,200 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Kingston sits at 120.5 per 100K. Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What are your go-to spots? The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I've lived in Riverside for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The safety scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 12 years. Moved from Charlotte for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Limited high-paying job options. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The healthcare is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in West area are average. Kids love it here.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 38, moved here 5 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Oak Park and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The pet-friendliness situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for young professionals. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
