Hey everyone, My partner and I are Homes are going for about $134,600 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,021 for rent here. Average temperature is around 73--F, so it's warm year-round. The unemployment rate is 5.2%, which is about average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Any advice would be great. Looking forward to hearing from you all. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I'm a nurse and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from LA about 8 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 14 years. Moved from LA for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Not very walkable outside downtown. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The housing market is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

I've been in West for 13 years. Moved from Charlotte for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Bugs and humidity in summer. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 11 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The pet-friendliness scene is improving
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..
