Moving to Kirkland for work -advice?

Random thought, I'm retired and The median home value here is around $1,022,500, which is pretty steep.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor recreation is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 3 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.
