Thinking about relocating to Kirkland from Phoenix

Hey folks, Born and raised here. Rent is about $2,342/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $1,022,500, which is pretty steep. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Thanks for reading. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Miami about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..
