Anyone regret moving to Kiryas Joel?

Longtime lurker here, The unemployment rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. With a population of 36,572, Kiryas Joel is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,572 people. Homes are going for about $685,800 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What would you do? Appreciate any input. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I work in healthcare here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is challenging. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The school system is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much established but now it's solid.

I've lived in East for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- The pet-friendliness scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
