Just moved to Kiryas Joel, any tips?

First post here. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,572 people. The unemployment rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What do you all think? Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Westside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely challenging and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (East) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is excellent in most areas.
