I got a job offer in Kissimmee, FL and I'm seriously considering the move. I'm coming from a large city. A few questions:
1. Which neighborhoods should I look at for a $1200-1900 budget?
2. How's the commute situation?
3. Is the crime as bad as the stats suggest?
4. Any hidden costs I should know about?

For families, I'd recommend looking at Maple Heights. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Old Town and Maple Heights are perfectly safe.
