Kittanning quality of life -am I missing something?
Hey everyone, Military spouse here. With a population of 3,910, Kittanning is a small town. The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Seattle about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..
