What surprised you most about Klamath Falls?

OK so Crime rate is something to consider -Klamath Falls sits at 467.8 per 100K. Homes are going for about $257,400 on average. Poverty rate is 17.6%, which is higher than I expected. With a population of 21,879, Klamath Falls is a small town. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 10 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 38, moved here 4 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Highland and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The community vibe situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for young professionals. improving vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $60K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The nightlife scene is improving

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 4 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is solid - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Limited shopping options. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in construction. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
