Affordable areas near Knoxville?

First post here. Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider — Knoxville sits at 667.3 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What do you all think? The city has invested a lot in new development.

I've lived in East for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cultural scene scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for retirement and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The school system is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
