Working in Knoxville — salaries realistic?
Anyone else feel this way? I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $214,000, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $50,994 in Knoxville. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
