Is Kokomo getting better or worse?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Austin and Median household income is $54,195, which feels on the lower side for the area. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $126,500 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros:
- Diverse community
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- High property taxes
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Poor road conditions
It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Came here for weather and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The healthcare is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Downtown. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
