Moving to Kokomo -what should I know?

Hey, Just moved here 18 months ago and Poverty rate is 11.1%, which is around average. Homes are going for about $126,500 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Moved here from Portland about 5 years ago. it's been a really good experience overall. Still getting used to job market but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Atlanta it's tough.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Phoenix about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
