I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The traffic scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Moved here from Denver about 11 years ago. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Still getting used to housing market but Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great Asian places. I have mixed feelings honestly.
