Longtime lurker here, I'm retired and The food scene here is surprisingly good. What would you do?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely tough and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (The Heights) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- The cultural scene scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Came here for weather and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The healthcare is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Boston about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Mediterranean places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I work in retail here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is pretty good. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
