Anyone else feel this way? Homes are going for about $403,700 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Would love some local perspective. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Bought a house here in 2022 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Miami about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much developing but now it's excellent.

I'm a accountant and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

I work in healthcare here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is challenging. Good luck with whatever you decide..
