Is it worth buying in La Crescenta-Montrose?

First post here. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $119,775 in La Crescenta-Montrose. The median home value here is around $1,151,100, which is pretty steep. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Nice parks and trails
- Strong sense of community
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited dining options
- Limited cultural events
Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 4 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
