First post here. I'm originally from Houston and Homes are going for about $244,200 on average. You can expect to pay around $970 for rent here. Rent is about $970/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I wrong here? The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The weather is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 12 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
