Best kept secrets of La Grange, KY

OK so Military spouse here. Rent is about $1,192/month for a decent place. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What do you all think? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Fairview for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- The weather scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

No regrets on my end..
