Is La Habra worth moving to in 2026?

Hey everyone, I'm retired and Crime rate is something to consider -La Habra sits at 224.3 per 100K. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 4.8%, which is about average. The median home value here is around $716,700, which is pretty steep. It's a a smaller city city with about 62,233 people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What would you do? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Baltimore about 6 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. No regrets on my end..
