Hey everyone, Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $1,958 for rent here. The median home value here is around $738,800, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $1,958/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely underrated and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Chicago about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
