Best areas to explore in La Mesa?

Curious what people think. I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 4.2%, which is about average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
