Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Memphis and You can expect to pay around $1,958 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Does this match your experience? The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Charlotte about 10 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..
