Alright, I'm a remote worker and Homes are going for about $763,200 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What are your go-to spots?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 9 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (North) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely better than expected and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Highland) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor recreation is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Midtown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The pet-friendliness scene is tough
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..
