Anyone else love living in La Paloma?

So, With a population of 2,836, La Paloma is a small town. The median home value here is around $79,500, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -La Paloma sits at 278.8 per 100K. Homes are going for about $79,500 on average. Poverty rate is 21.2%, which is higher than I expected. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good job market
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Rising rent prices
- Sprawl everywhere
Am I wrong here? Thanks! The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 34, moved here 10 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in South and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Can feel isolated
3. The outdoor recreation situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Definitely worth checking out..
