Moving to La Porte with kids -good idea?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Just moved here 3 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -La Porte sits at 538.1 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks for reading.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Chicago it's solid.
